When to Use GPR vs. ERT for Subsurface Investigation

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) are both non-destructive methods, but they suit different depths, resolutions, and ground conditions. GPR excels in shallow, dry, low-clay environments and is ideal for utilities and concrete. ERT works in deeper and more conductive settings and is preferred for groundwater, mineral exploration, and deep geotechnical characterisation. SUE Quality Levels: What They Mean for Your Project

Subsurface Utility Engineering uses quality levels (QL-D through QL-A) to communicate the reliability of utility location data. QL-D is records-only; QL-C adds surface geophysics; QL-B designates horizontal position with potholing; QL-A adds vertical position.
